Hard Inquiries

Unauthorized hard inquiry removal

A hard inquiry requires your permission. If you did not authorize it — a dealership shopping your application to twelve lenders, a pull after you walked away, an inquiry from a company you have never heard of — it has no right to be there.

Why these come off

Hard inquiries stay two years and each one can cost a handful of points. That matters most when you are about to apply for something that counts.

The common one is a car dealership sending your single application to a dozen lenders, producing a dozen inquiries you never agreed to. Another is a company pulling your file after you declined to proceed. Both are unauthorized, and unauthorized pulls have to be deleted.

A dealership shopping your application to many lenders
An inquiry from a company you do not recognise
A pull after you decided not to proceed
Multiple inquiries from one application
An inquiry tied to identity theft
A soft check reported as a hard inquiry
An inquiry older than two years

How the process runs

1. Free credit review

We pull and read your three-bureau report with you and tell you honestly what looks challengeable and what does not.

2. We build the challenge file

Every item that is inaccurate, incomplete, unverifiable or outdated gets documented and disputed with the bureaus and the furnisher.

3. The bureaus respond

They have 30 days to verify an item. Anything they cannot verify has to come off. We track every response.

4. We escalate and repeat

Items that come back verified get a second round with stronger documentation. This is a process, not a single letter.

Common questions

How much does a hard inquiry hurt?

Usually only a few points each, and the effect fades. The problem is volume — a dozen unauthorized pulls before a mortgage application is a real drag.

Do rate shopping inquiries count separately?

For mortgages and auto loans, multiple inquiries inside a short shopping window are typically treated as one. Outside that window, or for credit cards, each one counts.

How long do inquiries stay?

Two years on the report, though scoring models generally stop counting them after twelve months.

Can I remove inquiries I did authorize?

No. If you applied and authorized the pull, it is accurate and it stays. We target the ones you never agreed to.

What if I do not remember authorizing it?

Then we demand the creditor produce your authorization. If they cannot, it comes off.
